Fresh Food Market Loading Area
CPSA staff were called in to assist the market in responding to a WorkSafe notice immediately banning the public from being present anywhere near the loading activities. CPSA staff conducted extensive observations of the truck and fork lift movements, as well as the adjacent car park and pedestrian movements. Risks and recommendations were provided in a report as well as a traffic plan for future loading arrangements.
CBD corporate Underground Car park
A basement car park of a modern office building in South Melbourne was investigated to examine deviations from car park standards, general safety issues not covered in standards, to survey and model the manoeuvrability of turn tables using computer packages, and to test the manoeuvrability in practice. Interactions of access points with surrounding alleyways and stairwells was included within this assessment.
Utility Services yard
Thiess Services had an ad hoc internal arrangement for their 1.5 acre yard which accommodates two services (gas and electrical) with offset shifts, truck storage, a training facility, minor works areas, equipment yards, a warehouse, and an administrative office with staff parking and deliveries. CPSA P/L provided a comprehensive report on their risks and provided the report in two main parts; functional layout suggestions, and, individual measures regardless of functional layout changes. All solutions were low cost to inform, define and corral safely while maintaining functionality.
A section of a Melbourne Airport car park was being transformed from an open public area to a different usage all together. CPSA was called in to assess and report on the safety implications of intersection modifications, pedestrian circulation, vehicle circulation amendments, signage and sight lines..
